SHOULD BEABARCA – Failed to run on from the 700 metres to be beaten 283.8 metres and finished in ninth position.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have suffered arterial fibrillation.  Acting under the provisions of rule 101C(2)(a) the gelding was stood down for a period of 14 days, until a veterinary certificate inclusive of a satisfactory ECG is submitted and until it completes one requalifying trial.

WATTS UP THE HILL – Trainer R Alchin was fined $50 under rule 210 for failing to declare A Delosa as the driver by the prescribed time. Caught racing three wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain the position outside of the leader passing the 1150 metres.  Became unbalanced and galloped passing the 350 metres for which the gelding was stood down until it completes two requalifying trials and for a period of 10 days.

TOMMYS LUCK – Pre-race blood sample.

HE IS GOLD CLASS – Unable to secure clear running in the home straight on the final occasion and was not fully tested.

CASH AND BLING – Checked approaching the 900 metres when avoiding the galloping CAPTAIN BART

IM ROCKIN IT – Caught racing three wide in the early stages before obtaining a position in the running line leaving the 900 metres.  Driver W Rixon pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that approaching the 900 metres he has allowed IM ROCKIN IT to shift in when not sufficiently clear of CAPTAIN BART resulting in that runner being checked and galloped.  Further CASH AND BLING and BALTUSROL were further checked when avoiding the galloping CAPTAIN BART.  Driver W Rixon had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of seven days to commence midnight 9 July 2026.  In assessing penalty Stewards considered driver W Rixon’s guilty plea, circumstances of this incident, overall driving record and upcoming engagements.

BALTUSROL – Checked and galloped passing the 900 metres when avoiding the galloping CAPTAIN BART.

RACE 6 – CONDELL PARK PRODUCE PACE – 1609 metres

NOTHINGBUTWAVES – Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 39.3 metres and finished in eighth position.  Driver J Daskalovski explained that she had driven the mare consistently and noted that when shifting from the marker pegs to the position outside the leader passing the 800 metres, the mare failed to handle racing without cover when the tempo increased.  Stewards noted her comments.

TOMAHAWK BART – Pre-race blood sample.  A pre-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

WESTERN STYLE – Hampered passing the 500 metres when ADMIRABLE NZ was shifted up the track to its inside and was then required to race wider than necessary from this point.  Raced roughly leaving the 400 metres for a short distance.

HAS THE COURAGE – Post-race swab sample.

SPIRIT OF ARION NZ – Pre-race blood sample.

ADMIRABLE NZ – Driver D Murphy was issued a reprimand under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for shifting ADMIRABLE NZ wider on the track passing the 500 metres prior to the nominated marker and as a result WESTERN STYLE was required to cover more ground than necessary from this point.  In not taking more serious action against driver D Murphy, Stewards were mindful of the evidence M Bigeni in stating that from this point he was anticipating moving wider.

COMPETE – Tired leaving the 600 metres to be beaten 64.3 metres and finished in last position.  Stewards questioned driver B Abbott in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance of the gelding.  Mr Abbott explained that the gelding had been successful previously when being able to obtain the lead and roll along in a relatively fast tempo however was disappointing in today’s event.  In view of the gelding’s disappointing performance COMPETE was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  Will now be re-included into the mobile barrier draw.
