Further, he said that despite being hampered at the entrance to the home straight and becoming unbalanced when momentarily crowded by CHEDDAR VALLEY NZ which shifted into its line momentarily its finishing effort was below expectations. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RAINBOW TITIAN – When questioned in relation to the performance, trainer/driver Miss G Panella explained, that after obtaining lead, which was her pre-race intention, the gelding travelled relatively well at a comfortable tempo. She said that approaching the 400 metres she activated gear and placed the gelding under pressure, however it raced greenly from that point, was unresponsive and ran to the finish in a disappointing manner. Miss Panella said that after monitoring recovery she intended to experiment with head gear in an effort to increase RAINBOW TITIAN’S concentration during its races. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
TAFL MOVE – Pre-race blood sample.
REIGN MAKER – Driver K Langelaar was fined $50 under AR 162(1)(h), for failing to drive the gelding into position at the start. Passed required pre- and post-race veterinary examinations.

REASONABLY SWEET – Passed required pre- and post-race veterinary examinations. When questioned in relation to the performance, driver D Morgan explained, that after displaying some speed after the start he was caught wide and unable to obtain cover rounding the turn. He said that because of this he elected to restrain to the rear of the field and assume a position on the marker pegs. He said that passing the 500 metres from his position at the tail of the field, he elected to maintain that line and attempt to improve inside runners from that point. He said after this, REASONABLY SWEET was field shy and slightly unbalanced when placed under pressure, however inside the 100 metres when shifted wider responded well and ran to the finish strongly.
GOODTIME MIKI – Ran wider when placed under pressure in the home straight. Post-race swab sample.
KIARAS EPONA – Could not be driven into position at the start and was slow to begin. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing record.
