CINDYLOUSHANNON – pre-race blood sample. When questioned in relation to the performance, Driver B Elder explained that the filly failed to travel at any stage and when placed under pressure was unresponsive and disappointing and could offer no explanation for it. He further stated that after consulting with connections the filly would be retired. Notwithstanding this advice, B Elder was told that a stand down period of 28 days would be applied and prior to racing again CINDYLOUSHANNON must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial. Pre- and post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

NASHVILLE BART – Pre-race blood sample. When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted in the early stages, Trainer/Driver Mr T Ison explained that his pre-race intention was to lead or take the position outside the leader, he said that he drove with vigour after the start, then when entering the home straight on the first occasion he challenged for the lead and after placing his drive under pressure for a more significant period than intended he was unable to cross and restrained passing the 1200m. he said that after this the gelding travelled relatively well, however when placed under pressure passing the 400m its response was not strong and its condition gave out in the latter stages. Further he said that its performance was hampered by breaking stride when being corrected near the 200m and stated that he intended to alter the gelding trackwork to improve its fitness. Mr Ison was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record for breaking stride. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
MY ULTIMATE HUGO – Crowded momentarily and raced roughly inside the 300 metres when racing tight inside HEAVENLY TURBO which shifted in despite the efforts of its driver.

Not withstanding this advice, Miss Panella was advised that prior to racing again YOU CANNOT HIDE must perform tractably in an official qualifying trial. G Panella was fined $50 under Rule 187(3) for failing to adhere to a direction in relation to her obligations at the all clear area.

THREE RIVERS NZ – When questioned in relation to the performance, Trainer/Driver Mr T Ison explained, that from his rearward position he was concerned that he would be obliged to cover excessive ground when improving due to the moderate tempo. He said because of this he shifted to a 3 wide line near the 900 metres when IM LORD TOMMY went forward in the hope that that runner would allow him cover as he improved. He said passing the 500 metres IM LORD TOMMY began to weaken and he was obliged to shift wider on the track and drive forward from that point. He said whilst he gained some response from THREE RIVERS NZ it was unable to make significant ground due to the moderate tempo in the early and middle stages.
