RACE 1 – THE CORDINA GROUP PACE – 2300 metres

NO NOTTHEBUTTONS – Hung in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight and inconvenienced JORGE STREET. After considering the recent record of the gelding a warning was issued.  Post-race swab sample.

HUGO MAGUIRE NZ – Tired badly over the concluding stages.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils.  Acting in accordance with rule 101(3) the gelding was stood down for a period of three months, the production of a veterinary certificate and the completion of a trial to the satisfaction of Stewards.

BETTER ECLIPSE – Pre-race blood sample.

JORGE STREET – Inconvenienced passing the 250 metres when NO NOTTHEBUTTONS hung in under pressure.

RAVISHING SLOY – Trainer Kevin Pizzuto was fined $100 under Rule 210 for failing the late notification of Michael Stanley as the driver of the gelding.  Pre-race blood sample.

RACE 2 – BESTINBEDS.COM.AU PACE – 2300 metres

DOM TORETTO NZ – Pre-race blood sample.  Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining clear running passing the 200 metres.

MIKE ROSS NZ – Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining clear running passing the 50 metres.

DOUBLE ACT – Held up in the home straight and not fully tested.

VITE MONET – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1500 metres.  Hung out under pressure in the home straight.  After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued.  Post-race swab sample.

RAGING WHITEBAIT NZ – Held up in the home straight and not fully tested. 

SURFERS DELIGHT NZ – Held up in the home straight and not fully tested.

ALTA SIERRA – Pre-race blood sample.

RACE 3 – ULTRA AIR PACE – 1609 metres

SOUTH SEAS ROCK NZ – Pre-race blood sample. 

CLASSIC MISSION NZ – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1100 metres.

HUTA NZ – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1200 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

LOUIE LOU I NZ – Pre-race blood sample. 

GLITTER AINT GOLD – Driver Jett Turnbull was advised to exercise greater care when electing to shift his runner down the track upon entry to the first looking to obtain a position forward of LOUIE LOU I NZ driven by Mr Robert Morris. Stewards questioned driver Jett Turnbull with regards to the tactics he adopted in the middle stages of the event whereby after being caught racing wide in the early stages elected to work forward down the back straight before being unable to obtain a position outside the leader and continuing to race wide for the remainder of the event, in addition to the overall performance of the gelding.  Mr Turnbull advised Stewards he was provided instructions by trainer Nathan Turnbull that from the bad draw he would need to look to slot in which he attempted to do in the early stages however was unable to beat Robert Morris to a position rounding the first turn and was left racing three wide. Mr Turnbull further added that he elected at that stage to progress forward thinking that the gelding was capable of making that move mid race however he felt the gelding did not sprint as well as usual for him down the back and as a result was unable to find the position outside the leader.  Mr Turnbull further added that once he was caught racing wide at the 800 metres he felt it was not in the best interest of the gelding to be restrained so late in the event.  A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  After considering the explanation provided by Mr Turnbull Stewards determined to note his comments.

RACE 4 – GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND PACE – 2300 metres

LOU WILL NZ – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1400 metres.

SNAP SHOT NZ – Pre-race blood sample. 

LAST TIME JOE – Pre-race blood sample.   

TITIAN RAIDER – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1600 metres. 

BARTELLO – Tightened for room over the concluding stages between RIVERA LOU and QUIET STORM.

FAZE OF GLORY NZ – Held up in the home straight and not fully tested.

QUIET STORM – Post-race swab sample.

RACE 5 – ULE HOOF OIL PACE – 1609 metres

SWEET IDEAL – Pre-race blood sample.  Post-race swab sample.

BETTORLIGHTEM UP – Locked wheels with BAXTER RED approaching the first turn when that runner hung in whilst being restrained, causing BETTORLIGHTEM UP to be checked and race roughly.

BAXTER RED – Hung in when being restrained approaching the first turn causing BAXTER RED to lock wheels with BETTORLIGHTEM UP and as a result was checked.  After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued.  Held up in the home straight and not fully tested.

HUXTON NZ – Checked upon entry to the first turn when BAXTER RED and BETTORLIGHTEM UP locked wheels.

CAPTAIN BART – Checked and broke stride upon entry to the first turn when BAXTER RED and BETTORLIGHTEM UP locked wheels.

BUZZ BOMB – Checked upon entry to the first turn when BAXTER RED and BETTORLIGHTEM UP locked wheels.

BARA RILEY – Checked upon entry to the first turn when BAXTER RED and BETTORLIGHTEM UP locked wheels.

SWEET STRIDE – Pre-race blood sample.  Checked upon entry to the first turn when BAXTER RED and BETTORLIGHTEM UP locked wheels.

RACE 6 – CLUB MENANGLE STYLISH MEMPHIS STAKES (LISTED CLASSIC) – 1609 metres

SWEET DREAMS NZ – Held up in the home straight and not fully tested.  

JILLIBY ILLUMINATE NZ – Pre-race blood sample. 

LUX AETERNA – Pre-race blood sample.  Worked forward do the lead passing the 1200 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

RACE 7 – BIOWORMA 2YO STAKES – 1609 metres

LUCIENDO BIEN – Stewards approved the late driver request for Will Rixon to replace KerryAnn Morris.

BLISSFUL LOVER – Post-race swab sample.

BORDENTOWN – Pre-race blood sample. 

YOUR SHUFFLE – Pre-race blood sample.  Back in the mobile barrier draw.

RACE 8 – LLOWALONG FARMS 3YO STAKES -

LEWIE KELLY – Over raced during the middle stages.  Post-race swab sample.

SOHO WASHINGTON – Pre-race blood sample.

BLAZING HIGH – Pre-race blood sample.  Stewards approved the driver change for Will Rixon to replace KerryAnn Morris.

SAN SEBASTIAN – Improved three wide from the 900 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 700 metres.

LOCHINVAR MARCELLO – Raced roughly after the start.

RACE 9 – IRT TROTTERS MOBILE – 1609 metres

CORMORAN STRIKE NZ – Post-race swab sample.

MAXIMUS MERIDIUS – Broke stride passing the 150 metres.  Stewards ordered the “Hold All Tickets” announcement to be made prior to the declaration of All Clear, in order to review the films of the gelding remaining in a gallop for the final 150 metres of the event.  After taking submissions from co-trainer Dean McDowell and driver Lleyton Green, Stewards determined that MAXIMUS MERIDIUS whilst maintaining a gallop over the final 150 metres had gained ground, with particular reference to SUNNY GEE and TITAN STRIDE and in their opinion had therefore gained an advantage and was subsequently relegated to fifth placing in accordance with Rule 155(1).  The All Clear was subsequently given on the numbers of 1, 7, 6 and 3.

JUNGLE EYES – Checked and broke after the start when MALIBUU broke stride.  Raced roughly under pressure.  After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued.

MALIBUU – Broke stride after the start checking JUNGLE EYES which also broke stride.  After considering the recent record of the mare a warning was issued.  Checked passing the 400 metres when SPEEDY LOVER broke stride. 

SUNNY GEE – Pre-race blood sample.  Examined prior to and following the running of this event as the gelding has competed in excess of 200 race starts.  The examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. 

COURAGE STRIDE – Checked passing the 400 metres when SPEEDY LOVER broke stride.

SPEEDY LOVER – Pre-race blood sample.  Broke free of interference passing the 400 metres checking MALIBUU and COURAGE STRIDE.
