RACE 1 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1609 metres

RIPPIN GOOD FEELIN – Raced roughly for a short distance entering the back straight on the first occasion. Post-race swab sample.

RAINBOW JET – pre-race blood sample.

TABRA – Following required satisfactory performance, trainer/driver Miss C McElhinney was advised that the mare is now be eligible to take its place in the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 2 – MULTIQUIP REFRIGERATED TRANSPORT PACE – 1609 metres.

MY ROCK MOVES – When questioned in relation to the performance driver B Hughes explained, that he was instructed to lead, if possible, from his favourable draw. He said that after achieving this, the gelding raced fiercely and would not settle, which resulted in it setting a faster early tempo than had been intended. He said that he was forced to sustain an extended challenge from MISTER CHEESE on his outside and when placed under pressure inside the 400 metres the gelding was unresponsive and ran to the finish in a disappointing manner. He attributed this in part to the fact that MY ROCK MOVES was having only its second race start following a spell. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised that a poor performance warning would be placed on MY ROCK MOVES racing record.

MISTER CHEESE – Pulled hard during the early and middle stages. Ran wide inside the 100 metres when placed under pressure.

RACING PAULA – Driver C McElhinney was cautioned in relation to the manner that she applied the whip in the home straight. Post-race swab sample.

ESCALERA NZ – Had to be steadied for some distance approaching the home turn when racing behind MY ROCK MOVES.

THE IRISH EAGLE – Hampered and had to be steadied for a short distance inside the 500 metres when racing behind MY ROCK MOVES.

THREE RIVERS NZ – Hampered and had to be checked then shifted out when attempting to avoid MY ROCK MOVES near the 300 metres.

CORAL CAYS – pre-race blood sample. Following required satisfactory performance, connections were advised that the mare is now be eligible to take its place in the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 3 – IN MEMORY OF MR TANTANGLES PACE – 1609 metres

FAST TRACKER – Raced in restricted room for a short distance rounding the home turn when tight on the inside of DIDSHEDOIT NZ.

LIMOUSINE CHEEKY – When questioned in relation to the performance driver C Formosa explained that despite racing in a favourable position, the mare failed to travel comfortably due to being in the running line and the quick early sectionals recorded. She said that when placed under pressure near the 500m her drive was unresponsive and stated that in her opinion it is best suited to racing in the marker peg line when the tempo is not so strong. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr M Formosa said that if the mare’s recovery was satisfactory her racing preparation would be continued.

HE SAID SHE SAID – Passed required pre- and post-race veterinary examinations.

 

RACE 4 – PORTABLE HORSE STABLES PACE – 1609 metres

SUNDAY MORNINGS – Pre-race blood sample. Driver A McKinnon’s left foot dropped below the sulky rest momentarily when activating gear inside the 300 metres. Post-race swab sample.

PURE DRAGON – When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted in the early stages driver B Hughes explained that because of the mares tendency to race intractably in the early stages of its races and its recent inability to cross runners without having to be driven in a preventative manner, including at its most recent starts when it caused interference due to waywardness in the early stages, he was instructed to allow the mare to obtain cover after the start and attempt to improve during the middle and latter stages. He said that after being positioned at the rear of the field his drive travelled relatively well and raced tractably, however when placed under pressure inside the 500m its moderate response was not sufficient to make ground given the race tempo.

ALTA BILLY – Broke stride free of any external factors near the 500 metres and galloped for some distance. Trainer/driver Miss P Betts was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.

 

RACE 5 – SIXT CAR & TRUCK RENTAL TAMWORTH PACE – 1609 metres

BRAVE BONDI – Post-race swab sample.

WHISKEY ROYALE – Raced roughly for a short distance rounding the turn after the start. Connections were advised that the provision of last chance to race truly would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.

OTIS RISING – Had to be checked and broke stride rounding the turn after the start when attempting to avoid WHISKEY ROYALE which raced roughly forward of it.

JOHNNY DEE – pre-race blood sample.

JEREMY LOU – Hung in inside the 200 metres, contacted marker pegs resulting in driver C Shepherdson becoming unbalanced in the sulky and his left foot dropping below the sulky rest for some distance.

 

RACE 6 – RADIO 99.5FM LIVERPOOL PLAINS PACE – 1609 metres

MAXY BOMBER – pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

EBBONY STORM – Sustained a flat tyre passing the winning post with a lap remaining. Subsequently Miss C Mackney the driver of TERROR FLYING was reprimanded under rule 168(1)(a) for failing to take sufficient precautions to prevent that gelding’s foreleg contacting the inside sulky wheel of EBONY STORM.

 

RACE 7 – FOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK – TAMTROTS PACE – 1609 metres.

ELLIE RIPPIN – When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted in the early and middle stages driver J Turnbull explained that it had been his pre-race intention to obtain the lead or race outside the leader and he drove forward after the start to achieve this. He said that rounding the turn after the start he was trapped wide, then entering the back straight he was unable to muster sufficient speed to cross WHAT AGAIN SHANNON which was driven with vigour to maintain its forward position. He said that because of this he was obliged to restrain to the rear of the field to avoid being caught excessively wide. When questioned further in relation to his tactics in the final lap, he said he was reluctant to improve behind MY CONFIDANT passing the 600m as that would have obliged him to be very wide and he was mindful of the extra ground his drive covered in the early stages. He said that passing the 500m he elected to improve along the marker pegs and drove with vigour from that point. He stated that whilst his drive offered some response it did not improve quickly and he was obliged to wait until HEAVEN FAST weakened sufficiently inside the 300m to allow him to improve away from the marker pegs. He added that after obtaining clear running rounding the home turn ELLIE RIPPIN ran to the finish well. His explanation was accepted.
