MISS AUSTRALIANA – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the mare not having competed in the previous 12 months. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight on the final occasion. Stewards questioned Trainer/Driver S Grima in relation to the performance of the mare when finishing in 3rd position ($1.08 fav) beaten 6.1 metres. START CHEERING NZ – Trainer K Morris was fined $50 under Rule 210 for failing to declare J Daskalovski as the driver by the prescribed time. Stewards questioned Driver J Daskalovski in relation to her driving tactics in particular her decision leaving the 1400 metres to maintain the lead when challenged by DON JACKO until the 1300 meters however to then surrender the lead passing the 1100 metres when challenged by MULLUM SIZZLE. Ms Daskalovski explained that pre-race it was her intention to lead with START CHEERING NZ. Ms Daskalovski explained after beginning well she was able to lead and maintain the lead in the early stages and when challenged for a short distance by DON JACKO she elected to maintain the lead however stated a short distance later she was unaware MULLUM SIZZLE had been progressing with that much speed to its outside and as a result she was unable to muster the required speed to resist the challenge from MULLUM SIZZLE which resulted in her surrendering the lead passing the 1100 metres. Ms Daskalovski explained from that point she did not consider improving around MULLUM SIZZLE and challenge again for the lead noting the race inexperience of START CHEERING NZ being only a 2 year old filly. Ms Daskalovski further explained she was then racing well up until the 500 metres when being checked behind MULLUM SIZZLE when that gelding gave ground until leaving the 400 metres when being able to improve onto the back of DON JACKO and was happy with the way the filly found the line over the concluding stages. Stewards advised Ms Daskalovski in their opinion she had erred in her judgement during the early stages of the event in that after being challenged and resisting the challenge from DON JACKO she should have been aware of MULLUM SIZZLE improving three wide and should have improved with some vigour to try and maintain the lead at that stage which would have prevented her positioning behind the leader and being checked behind the weakening gelding from the 500 metres. Ms Daskalovski was advised if she continues to show lack of judgement in her race driving that Stewards may take further action against her licence.
COMMANCHE BLING – Slow to begin. Raced roughly for a short distance after the start.
DON JACKO – Pre-race blood sample.
DANCINWITHPLEASURE – Contacted the sulky wheel of ISZARAYA approaching the 400 metres and was checked and paced roughly for a short distance. Post-race swab sample.
ISZARAYA – Shifted up the track marginally when improving around DON JACKO approaching the 400 metres when that runner shifted up the track forward of it resulting in slight contact to DANCINGWITHPLEASURE causing that runner to be checked and pace roughly for a short distance. in not taking any action against horse or driver, Stewards were mindful of the minimal movement of ISZARAYA at that stage up the track.
OUR SWEETHEART – Hampered shortly after the start when avoiding COMMANCHE BLING which was slow to begin and paced roughly for a short distance.
MULLUM SIZZLE – Pre-race blood sample. Raced three wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain a position outside the leader passing the 1100 metres. Gave ground from the 500 metres to be beaten 40.6 metres and finished in last position.
RACE 8 – LASSU COSMIC CABARET @ PENRITH SHOWGROUND FROM OCT 16 PACE – 1720 metres
BRONKSI ROYAL – Post-race swab sample.
CHOOCHOO TRAIN – Failed to run on from the 700 metres to be beaten 110.2 metres and finished in last position. Driver J Bates was disappointed in the gelding’s performance noting the gelding had trialled well leading into the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. In view of the gelding’s disappointing performance, CHOOCHOO TRAIN was stood own until it completes one requalifying trial.
THE BEST OF YOU – Pre-race blood sample.
GREY CADILLAC - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding being 12 years of age and having competed in excess of 200 race starts. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination. Raced three wide in the early and middle stages until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres.
RACE 9 – THE ANGELS NO SECRETS LIVE AND LOUD @ CLUBPACEWAY OCT 24 PACE – 1720 metres
ADIRADIVA – Paced roughly leaving the 750 metres and as a result lost ground relative to the field. Driver J Bates could offer no explanation into the mare’s performance in tonight’s event however noted he was disappointed in the way the mare travelled throughout the event.
JANELLE MAY – Became unbalanced and galloped passing the 1400 metres for which a warning was issued. Inconvenienced leaving the 700 metres when being required to shift wider when ADIRADIVA paced roughly and lost ground relative to the field.
SMALL INCOME – Post-race swab sample. Driver B McDonough was questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance of the mare in tonight’s event when successful ($17). Mr McDonough explained it was his first drive on the mare in tonight’s event and was able to receive a favourable run when being able to lead the event and noted the intractability of a number of runners trailing him had assisted his mare in tonight’s performance.
SHES A TRUE BLING – Became unbalanced and galloped during the score up and was out of position at the start and took no competitive part in the event for which a warning was issued.
LOUTHPARKSCHOONER – Pre-race blood sample. hampered passing the 750 metres when being taken wider around ADIRADIVA when that mare was pacing roughly.
MIGHT AND VICTORY – Checked when improving three wide passing the 1400 metres avoiding the galloping JANELLE MAY. Worked forward to obtain the position outside the leader leaving the 1200 metres.
