RACE 1 – STUART VALENTINE LADYSHIP PACE – 2260 metres

MUSICSTAR – Pre-race blood.  Broke stride in the score up, causing a false start.  A warning was issued.

CALIFORNIAPRINCESS – Driver E Turnbull was queried on the filly’s overall performance when tiring from the 500 metres to finish in ninth position beaten 74.6 metres.  Miss Turnbull stated it was the intention to lead the event if possible and when unable to obtain the lead leaving the 1800 metres, looked to find a position behind the leader but in being cautious not to cause interference to any runners, was unable to find that position.  As a result, the filly commenced to overrace when racing outside the lead which proved detrimental to her overall performance.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised the filly will be required to requalify on one occasion prior to racing.

A TRUE PHENOMENON – Leaving the 1800 metres was inconvenienced when improving onto the back of MERRYWOOD ROSIE.  The mare tended to over race throughout the event.

BETTOR BRILLIANCE – Post-race sample.

GET UP BETTY – Overraced throughout the event.  Contacted the final marker peg prior to utilising the sprint lane in the home straight on the final occasion.  As the mare gained no advantage over any other runner, no action was taken other than to advise driver C Formosa of her obligations to not attempt a run in the sprint lane before it comes available.
